    Authoring Content

The content contributor section documents all of the dotCMS tools that enable content contribution throughout a website. The following documentation shows multiple ways that a Content Manager can contribute content, including on a page on the dotCMS backend, importing content from a CSV file, or adding content in multiple languages. All the information needed to utilize any type of content contribution field type or taxonomy while contributing content.

Before opening a site to content contributors, webmasters should be familiar with the concepts of dotCMS taxonomy, e.g. sites, folders, tags, taxonomy and relationships which are used to efficiently segregate and manage content as it is entered into the content repository so that it can be efficiently and dynamically extracted to HTML pages automatically. Becoming familiar with the proper ways to set up Content Types for content contribution and dynamic page construction BEFORE allowing content contributors to enter content to a site avoids backtracking on content contribution and can help the webmaster better utilize tools dotCMS has for automating the pull and display of fresh content on webpages.
